Shots from My Life

Pastor Daniel bringin the heat! In Christ, our new purpose, identity, race, and ethnicity is CHRISTIAN. All the beautiful shades of our skin are united under that banner and the world should look in awe. We are Patriots of the Kingdom of Heaven. Church, my we not just believe this but live it!
Today's adventure includes 6 hours of driving round trip, Kanye's new album on the playlist, and officiating a wedding for some good friends in Ohio. All of this has me thinking that I'm so grateful for a God of second chances. This couple I'm marrying was turned down by 4 other pastors who wouldn't officiate their wedding because of their past. When I heard their story, grieved with them over the trauma of their past, and encountered their true desire to put Jesus at the center of their marriage, there was no way I was going to be the 5th pastor to turn them down. It has been my joy to not only prepare them for marriage but to coach each of them through that trauma to healing and wholeness. I'm so proud of how hard they've fought for each other and themselves. I'll admit, there were times when I wasn't sure their relationship was going to make it...and I know they would each say the same thing. But we dug into the junk together and Jesus showed up right in the middle of it to rescue and restore them. Before you pat me on the back, go ahead and point your finger to the sky because two years ago I would have been the first to wag my finger at them. The God of second chances met me in my religion and saved me from myself. He met this couple in the middle of their broken past and promised them a hopeful future together, and He met a man who claimed to be God (Kanye) and transformed him to proclaim Christ as King. There's no doubt, my friends, that the God of second chances is on the move. He's always relentless in pursuit of one more..and I will do whatever it takes to be right behind Him ;) www.resilientcoaching.net @lizagrandy
Noah is a math wiz but struggles with reading. In fact, he's behind where he should be for his grade and is on a program to catch up. While this is good and necessary, I read something today that hit me hard: 77% of parents think that a student's lowest grades deserve the most attention. Then it goes on to say this: "Parents and teachers reward excellence with apathy instead of investing more time in areas where a child has the most potential for greatness" (Tom Rath, Strengthsfinder 2.0). Do me a favor and read that again. One more time. This one's on repeat today for me! While we will never stop growing Noah's reading ability, I want to make sure I'm not so focused on what needs fixed that I forget to celebrate where he is strong...because you get more of what you celebrate! @littlemoosebyliza
